Supplements: What You Need to Know

Curious, do you take supplements?

Supplements can be a wonderful “supplement” to any healthy lifestyle.

Though if your supplements contain a lot of unhealthy additives (like my client below) and inflammatory ingredients - they may be doing more harm than good.

Recently, one of my long time clients reached out to get some recommendations on supplements to support her gut health, bloat, and gassy feeling.

Before I shared, I asked what she was taking now.

Magnesium was one of the ones she mentioned her doctor recommended. When I looked up the ingredients in the brand she was taking, I found this…

Ingredients: Magnesium Chloride, Calcium Carbonate, Hypromellose Phthalate, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Talc, Titanium Dioxide, Triacetin, Croscarmellose Sodium, Stearic Acid, Povidone, Acacia, Maltodextrin, Magnesium Stearate, Hypromellose, Shellac, FD&C Blue #2 Aluminum Lake, Mineral Oil, Propylene Glycol.

Whoa! Why are companies adding fillers, food colorings, mineral oils, and more to supplements??

I shared the info with her and recommended she consider taking a magnesium that was both professional grade, third party tested, AND, “clean”- meaning no fillers, preservatives, food colorings or other inactive ingredients that may cause more irritation than good.

So please check your supplements for ingredients - both active and inactive to be sure YOU are getting the highest quality ingredients for YOUR BODY and health!
